Kafka learns the Defense Force close-quarters combat style from Hoshina so that he won’t have to rely on the power of Kaiju No. 8 to fight. Ironically, it was Isao who created the fighting style. Kafka gets his phone back during his training and receives a message from his comrades. Meanwhile, the Defense Force’s leadership is busy dealing with a rash of unsolved Kaiju incidents around Japan.
